Despite the fact that many criticize the brand for having made only minor aesthetic improvements and not having made a great technological leap in the latest top-of-the-range, the truth is that the company has its own technological calendar. In this sense, there are rumors that point the end of the fingerprint sensor already in the next Galaxy Tab S4. It is a “normal” path that big brands are forced to make given the technologies that come to market and the need to be one step ahead of user preferences. When the fingerprint reading system seems to be mature it is time to take advantage of more innovative, safe and modern technologies. The SamMobile analyzed the firmware of Galaxy Tab S4 to search unlocking methods and, it seems, there is no mention of a fingerprint sensor. The device, however, will use iris recognition and face unlock.
The destination of fingerprint sensors
The tech giant Apple removed the fingerprint sensor from the iPhone last year with the iPhone X. This decision was met with mixed reactions from customers and competitors, with some deciding to point out this technology as less robust, more permeable to attacks and it would not have the same success as the fingerprint. The South Korean giant Samsung, however, never seemed to be interested in completely abandoning fingerprint readers. It is still said that the company is studying other options to keep the sensor nearby, including embedding it on the screen as there are already devices available with this security feature. Although several Chinese manufacturers have already released this technology, a fingerprint sensor on glass has never been described as reliable enough to meet the standards of the tech giant Apple and the South Korean giant Samsung. And while the tech giant Apple has given up on this idea, but, the South Korean giant Samsung is apparently still looking at it and we will be able to see great news in the future Galaxy S10 at this crucial point in the security of smartphones and tablets.
