As this was part of the season’s story, with players tasked with completing challenges in order to help the resistance restore the building ability, many players assumed this was merely a temporary option. However, as discovered by Twea — a Fortnite leaker over on Twitter — it appears as though a Fortnite ‘No Build’ mode will become a permanent fixture instead.
Twea also noted that there are ‘other versions of it too,’ likely referring to Duos, Trios and Squads modes for different sized parties.
While some may believe this is as a result of the positive reception to the refreshing take the ‘no build’ mode has brought to Fortnite’s Battle Royale mode, it should be noted that Twea spotted this mode on Monday this week, just a day after the season had gone live.
As such, it’s likely Epic Games always planned to add a ‘No Build Battle Royale’ mode into Fortnite once the initial eight-day stint of the mechanic being disabled in the main game modes had run its course.
The removal of the building mechanic has proven to be particularly popular with fans, with GameSpot’s Mark Delaney’s Twitter poll with over 48,000 votes finding a ‘No Build Mode’ winning the vote by 63.5%.
